Lastly, whenever you will be away from home in your dog stays home, immediately take him outside to go potty. One really good tool to have will be a dog crate or cage. This will especially be good when he is a puppy. Whenever you will be leaving the home, simply put him inside the cage where he will likely take a nap. Whenever you arrive home, taken out of the cage directly to the outside for him to go potty. On a side note, don't only have him use the cage when you're away. In the beginning, you'll need to let him get used to his cage as being his own refuge. Sometimes place them in the cage when you'll be in the same room. This will help for him to get more acclimated to his own cage.
